International Conference for Survivors of Rape 2026 (ICSoR 2026)
In an era where sexual violence remains a pervasive and evolving global challenge, the imperative to transform care, prevention and healing for survivors of rape has never been greater.
The 8th International Conference on Survivors of Rape (ICSoR) brings together survivors, researchers, healthcare providers, experts and policy-makers from across disciplines to foster collaborative action and share expertise. This year’s edition is hosted by Ghent University and Ghent University Hospital in the historic city of Ghent, Belgium from 3–5 June 2026 and invites people from all backgrounds.
In the face of our evolving understanding of the impact of sexual violence, including life-course complications, revictimisation risks, and the growing need for diversity-sensitive care, ICSoR 2026 will focus on two interlinked themes : (1) Care as Prevention - Holistic, Trauma-Informed and Lifecourse Approaches to Prevent Revictimisation and/or Perpetration, and (2) Inclusive and Adaptive Care for Victims/Survivors with Complex Profiles - Standardisation versus Personalisation in Practice.
By convening diverse expertise and lived-experience, ICSoR 2026 seeks to advance understanding of the latest scientific evidence, innovations and effective practices in supporting victims of sexual violence. In doing so, the conference aims to build new bridges between research, practice and policy and to catalyse collaborative networks that advance prevention, healing and equity for all survivors.
