Support for Integrated Maternal and Child Health and Nutrition Services in Tete Province, Mozambique

The project called ‘Support for Integrated Maternal and Child Health and Nutrition Services in Tete Province, Mozambique’ is funded by UNICEF, and implemented by ICRH Mozambique in collaboration with the Provincial Health Department in Tete Province, Mozambique. The overall objective of the project is to improve the provision of quality integrated maternal and child health and nutrition services in the province.

OBJECTIVES

Main objective:

The provision of quality integrated maternal and child health and nutrition services is improved in Tete Province, Mozambique

Specific Objectives:

Technical quality of maternal and child health and nutrition services is improved
Access to and utilization of maternal and child health and nutrition services is improved

ACTIVITIES

Technical support to provincial and district program managers
Formal and in-service training of health care providers
Acquisition of essential equipment and strengthening of supply chain management
Monitoring and evaluation of maternal and child health and nutrition program performance
Interactive communication with existing patient support groups to create demand for incorporation of maternal and child health and nutrition in their activities
Assessments of technical quality of care of emergency obstetric care, integrated management of childhood diseases, and nutrition
Assessments of the collaboration with existing patient support groups on mother and child health and nutrition matters, and of the barriers and facilitating factors in the continuum of care for HIV exposed infants, and the linkages between PMTCT and paediatric HIV treatment programes
