Ms Lore Roels
Researcher
Lore Roels (she/her) is a PhD researcher in ICRH’s Gender & Violence Team and the Migration Law Research Group at Ghent University. She is a member of the University’s interfaculty Centre for the Social Study of Migration and Refugees (CESSMIR) and the Human Rights Centre (HRC). She holds a Bachelor of Laws and a Master of Laws degree from Ghent University, as well as an LLM degree from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), where she specialised in human rights, asylum law & gender studies. During her studies, Lore interned for several (refugee, sexual and reproductive rights) NGOs in Belgium and Uganda, a law firm and the Belgian Council for Alien Law Litigation. Lore’s PhD focuses on gender-(in)sensitivities in asylum procedures of persons fleeing sexual and gender-based violence and is supervised by Prof. Dr. Ines Keygnaert (ICRH) and Prof. Dr. Ellen Desmet (MigrLaw research group, Faculty of Law).
