Nele

Nele Vaerewijck holds degrees in midwifery and a Master of Science in Health Promotion. She is interested in themes regarding reproductive medicine and health equity. Looking for the best practices and giving a voice to vulnerable groups is what she is passionate about. 
Nele joined ICRH in 2020. As a scientific assistant within the ‘Gender & Violence’ team of Prof. Dr. Keygnaert, she focuses on research and training on sexual and gender-based violence.

Perinatal Mental Health Gender-Based Violence Capacity building

Gender-Based Violence and mental health in the perinatal period in Palestine

To date, no policy has been developed to address gender-based violence (GBV) in pregnancy and detect signs of post-partum depression (PPD) among women during the perinatal period in Palestine. This deprives victims of much-needed support and negatively impacts their wellbeing and the growth and development of their infants across generations.
