Gender sensitive primary care in Flanders

Commissioned by the Institute for the equality of women and men and in collaboration with ICRH Ghent, Çavaria and the Transgender Info Point at the Ghent University Hospital (TIP), Domus Medica (DM) wants to sensitize, inform and educate general practitioners to provide gender-sensitive, holistic and person-centred care with specific attention to the LGBTQI+ group. Through one central webpage around the LGBTQI+ theme, general practitioners will have quick access to an up-to-date overview of the existing range of initiatives by subcategory and target group. Furthermore, DM wishes to develop a training package with specific attention to the LGBTQI+ theme and offer it free of charge to small training groups in Flanders and Brussels. Çavaria, the TIP and the ICRH-UGent will provide the necessary expertise. In order to measure the results and impact, participating general practitioners will complete an online questionnaire before and after (repeated measurement measuring both short-term and long-term) completion of this training package, gauging their knowledge, attitude and skills around the LGBTQI+ theme.
