CHILD project : Towards a CHILD-friendly Legal Order for Fair Justice Provision

The CHILD-project towards a child-friendly justice proposes a collaborative work of frontline professionals towards the development of a child-friendly legal system for child victims and child witnesses of violence. The project aims to improve the implementation of existing legislation, such as the Victims' Directive and the Strategy for Victims' Rights, at both the European and national levels in nine EU countries (Belgium, Greece, Spain, Austria, Italy, Cyprus, Estonia, Romania, and Portugal).

The project puts specific focus on the forensic interviewing of minors and on multidisciplinary collaboration among judicial-, health- and victim support services. It aims to enhance the competencies of different actors through the development of a European guide on forensic interviewing and multidisciplinary cooperation, as well as through training and international exchange among the involved professionals. Furthermore, the project intents to influence national and European policies through an analysis of current best practices and shortcomings regarding a child-friendly justice system, ultimately formulating policy recommendations at the national and European level.
