Walks

1. City Tour: In the Footsteps of Women and Queer People Through the Centuries (5 June, 6pm or 8.30pm)

In Ghent, everyone is welcome and can feel at home, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity—but what was it like in the past? During this walk, we explore the history of women and LGBTQIA+ people through the centuries.

The walk usually starts in front of Casa Rosa vzw on Belfortstraat and lasts approximately 1.5 to 2 hours.

The Rainbow Network (Regenboognetwerk) is a structural partnership bringing together city services, civil society organisations, Ghent University, the police, Unia, Amal vzw, Casa Rosa vzw, and others. Through concrete actions, we work together to promote a positive image and greater respect for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex people in Ghent. We place the LGBTQIA+ community at the centre of our efforts and actively involve Ghent-based organisations and all residents in our shared goal of creating a tolerant city.

This city walk is organised and led by GANDANTE.

2. City Tour: From Bathhouses to the Glass Alley (5 June, 6pm or 8.30pm)

The red-light district—just the name alone sparks the imagination. And indeed, this walk takes you to the Vander Doncktdoorgang, better known as the Glazen Straatje (Glass Alley).

The tour lasts approximately 1.5 to 2 hours and usually starts at Stoofstraat in Ghent.

This city walk is organised and led by GANDANTE.

3. Charlie City Tours True or False Tour (5 June, 6pm or 8.30pm)

Who’s the Smartest in Your Group? Find out during this fun and interactive quiz tour! On an engaging walk through the heart of Ghent, Nick—founder of Charlie Tours—shares 10 extraordinary stories about the city, from both past and present. But beware: some of these stories are true, while others are completely made up. It’s up to each participant to decide individually: True or False?

Both the winner and the loser receive a typical Ghent prize! Along the way, every participant also gets to enjoy a delicious sweet local treat.

An unforgettable experience full of fun, friendly competition, and fascinating facts about Ghent!

This city tour is organised by Charlie Tours.
